BIG SKY Greetings PFF #29

The stamp issue was called Greetings from America, and each state had a ceremony in their capital city on April 4th, 2002. Each stamp was actually meant to look like what were called 'Large Letter' postcards. I have seen a number of different types of these cards, most of them linen and very colorful. Scenes from the city or state which were the subject of the cards were portrayed in each of the large letters across the card.

I took the theme of the background from the stamp and although Montana is seven letters, it was already on the stamp, so I chose to use the nickname for Montana.

    Happy PFF!

PS The Spanish doll postcard is embossed. It does look very real, doesn't it?

  8. It could almost be a maximum postcard, but the cancel doesn't have a coordinating graphic. Nice one.

  10. This is such a wonderful piece, Dave. I admire the way you placed the panoramic scene inside the graphic element of the letters. I have found working with lettering to be difficult. This works on so many levels.

  11. Nice bit of lettering there, Dave. I've got a friend right now who is learning about conceptualisation in lettering. So the word "popcorn" for example could be shown with the two "o"s popping out of the word. Your BIG sky, show's big sky! I get it! Nice touch. :-)
